Worried York residents seeking debt advice
Wednesday 10th December 2008
While the government recently announced a range of new initiatives aimed at encouraging people to seek debt advice, millions remain worried about their current positions.
According to the latest figures from the York Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), around 25 inquiries a week are received from people who have either lost their jobs or who fear that they may be about to do so.
What's more, many are now seeking advice over how best to deal with debts such as credit card bills and mortgage repayments, the York Press revealed.
This latest news comes just days after the latest Credit Confidence survey from accountancy firm PricewaterhouseCoopers showed that around one in four Brits are worried about paying back their debts in the current economic climate.
In addition, 16 per cent of those consumers questioned for the study revealed that they are already struggling to get back into the black.
