Financial crisis concerns more women than men
Financial crisis concerns more women than men
Monday 17th November 2008
Research conducted by Moneywise.co.uk suggests 43 per cent of women are apprehensive about the state of their finances given the global economic turmoil, while only 25 per cent of men are worried about falling into debt.
What's more, just 26 per cent of women are happy with their provisions for retirement, yet the majority of men (58 per cent) are confident about their ability to avoid debt problems in old age.
"There is a significant contrast between the sexes in the levels of concern felt about finances," commented Moneywise.co.uk's Rachel Lacey.
"Women remain less confident than men about having enough money in retirement."
According to Ms Lacey, there are a number of steps consumers can take to ensure they are better prepared for the expected recession.
These include getting the best deal on savings and seeking advice on debt management where applicable.
Moneyfacts figures show the cost of borrowing on credit cards has risen recently, making debt management even more critical than ever.
