Cameron launches new debt campaignTuesday 13th January 2009

David Cameron has unveiled a new advertising campaign which criticises Gordon Brown's government over the increasing levels of public and personal debt in the UK.

According to the Conservatives' campaign, every newborn child in the country will soon begin their life owing £17,000 due to the "Labour debt crisis".

To convey this message, the party will display a new poster at 260 billboard sites across the country bearing the slogan "Dad's nose, mum's eyes, Gordon Brown's debt" alongside a picture of an infant.

Introducing the campaign yesterday (January 12th), Mr Cameron said: "I think it is an extremely powerful, important and responsible message that we are quite right to get across.

"Every child born today is entering the world with £17,000 of Labour debt hanging over them."

Due to current borrowing levels, the UK's national debt is set exceed £1 trillion for the first time by 2013.
