Britons making financial resolutions
Britons making financial resolutions
Monday 29th December 2008
The research from Alliance & Leicester found that 26 per cent of Britons will resolve to cut back on spending in 2009, while 25 per cent are planning to put more money away in savings.
Although getting more exercise and losing weight were shown to be the two most popular resolutions, more people appear to be concerned by financial matters than traditional new year's pledges such as giving up smoking or finding love.
Hetal Parmar, manager for savings at Alliance & Leicester, commented: "Our research found the old favourites of exercising more and losing weight snatching the top two spots for 2009.
"However, finances are clearly also a big priority for us all, with Brits wanting to cut down on their spending and to save more of their hard-earned cash."
Darren Cook, spokesperson for Moneyfacts, recently said that a growing number of Britons are "taking precautions" to prevent debt problems in 2009.
