Will debt management affect your job?

Working toward a debt management solution that won’t affect your work

It is up to you who you tell about your Debt Management Plan and that includes whether or not you decide to confide in anyone at work. As guardians of your debt management, we respect your right to privacy - that’s why we will never disclose personal information about your debt to anyone without your permission.

Your employer and your privacy
We understand that your finances may not be something you wish those around you to know anything about – particularly your boss. When we’re dealing with setting up your Debt Management Plan and indeed throughout the whole process, we will deal with you direct, usually over the phone at a time that suits you. We will call you on the number you provide us with, so you don’t have to worry about taking any personal calls while you’re at work.

Debt management and your future career plans
Unlike bankruptcy, entering into a Debt Management Plan need not have any impact on your current or future career plans. Bankruptcy can impose future job restrictions or even stop you from practising certain professions like accountancy or law and can have an impact on what roles you’re allowed to fulfil within a company. However a Debt Management Plan is an informal agreement which means you can have more control over your cash flow and pass some of your debt worry over to us without having to worry about any career consequences.

Repayments and your salary
Your debt management repayments are not deducted from your salary so there’s no need to inform your employer or your HR department at work.

It’s important to remember that once your Debt Management Plan is in place we’ll negotiate with your creditors on your behalf. That means there’s less chance you’ll be on the receiving end of any unwanted phone calls from creditors, especially if you’re in company or busy at work.
